Golf in Myrtle Beach started here. Pine Lakes opened in 1927 as the city's first course — locals still call it 'The Granddaddy' — with a layout by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America, and an antebellum-style clubhouse now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. That clubhouse, less than half a mile from the Atlantic, doubles as one of the Grand Strand's more history-minded wedding venues.
Couples can hold ceremonies outdoors in the manicured courtyard or garden areas overlooking the course, then move inside the historic clubhouse for the reception; the Pine Lakes Pub works for smaller gatherings and rehearsal dinners, and a bridal suite gives the wedding party a place to get ready on site. Catering and bar service are handled entirely in-house, and the club takes on everything from small affairs to events of 300-plus guests.
Pine Lakes sits on Granddaddy Drive in the heart of Myrtle Beach, a short drive from the oceanfront hotels where most out-of-town guests stay. Wedding inquiries go through the club's events sales office at (843) 315-3192.
